Where is Darlington, IN?
Great question. Since we are only a town of 800 people, we are not on the average road map. We are 7 miles north east of Crawfordsville on state highway 47. We sit just about 20 miles south of Lafayette. Specifically we are located at 200 E. Main St. To find us, turn onto Madison St. from highway 47. Go to the stop sign and take a right. We are on the right side of the street. To find out more about our amazing little town check out Darlington on the web at www.darlingtonindiana.com
Denomination Affiliation
We are an Independent Christian Church whose roots come out of the Restoration Movement. To learn more about Restoration Movement churches, visit www.christianchurchtoday.com
Size of Congregation
Each week our average attendance is between 40-60 people. Our church has a strong family atmosphere that makes visitors feel at home. Our congregation is made up of people of all ages that come together each week to lift up the name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
Style of Worship
You will find a blended style of worship at Darlington Christian Church. There is an even blend of new and old, contemporary and traditional. We are blessed to have a mounted projector displaying song lyrics, video clips, and power point presentations for the sermon. Even though we take worship seriously, you will find the atmosphere to be light and casual. Some people wear suits and dresses while others might wear khakis and jeans. We believe it is not the style of worship that matters, nor what one looks like, but it is the attitude of our hearts as we come before our GREAT God.
Restoration Church Distinctives
- Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; and where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent
- In essentials unity, in opinions liberty, and in all things love
- No head-quarters but heaven, no creed but Christ, no book but the Bible, no plea but the gospel, and no name but the divine.
- Christians only, but not the only Christians.
We Believe
1. We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative word of God.
3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious death and atonement through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal and visible return in power and glory.
4. We believe the only terms of salvation that we may proclaim are those expressed in the New Testament; faith, repentance, confession of faith in Jesus Christ, and baptism for the remission of sins and for the promised presence of the Holy Spirit.
5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life, and by whom the church is empowered to carry out Christs Great Commission.
6. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved unto the resurrection of life and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
